1. Apply to Pulse Points
Pulse points are areas where your body generates the most heat, and heat activates and projects fragrance. The best spots are:
- Inner wrists
- Side of the neck
- Behind the ears
- Inner elbows
- Behind the knees
Pick 2 or 3 spots and spray from about 15cm away. You don't need to douse yourself: with a high concentration perfume like Nouvor (about 40% fragrance concentration), 2 to 3 sprays is enough for most occasions.
2. Don't Rub Your Wrists Together
This is the most common mistake. Rubbing breaks down the top notes of the fragrance and causes it to fade much faster. Spray and let it dry naturally.
3. Moisturise Before Spraying
Fragrance clings to moisturised skin far better than dry skin. Apply an unscented lotion or body cream right before you spray. Dry skin "eats" perfume, while hydrated skin holds it for hours longer.
4. Spray on Clothes Too (Carefully)
Fabric holds fragrance much longer than skin. A light spray on your collar, scarf, or shirt can add hours to your fragrance's life. Just be careful with lighter fabrics, as some oils can stain.
Tip: Spray from at least 20cm away to avoid any marks on fabric.
5. Layer Your Fragrance
If you really want your scent to last, layer it. Use an unscented or matching body lotion first, then apply your perfume on top. The base layer helps lock in the scent and improves longevity.
6. Store Your Perfume Properly
Heat, light, and humidity break down fragrance molecules over time. Store your bottles in a cool, dark place, not in your bathroom where steam and temperature changes damage the scent. A drawer or cupboard works perfectly. In Pakistan's summer, never leave a bottle in a parked car.
7. Apply Right After Shower
Your skin is warm and clean after a shower, the perfect canvas for fragrance. Pat dry, moisturise lightly, then spray. You'll get noticeably better longevity than applying hours later on dry skin.
